JSC “Vostochny Port”, the largest Russian specialized port with hi-tech transshipment of coal and a member of the coal port holding “Managing Port Company", says it continues implementing environmental protection measures within the scope of execution of the agreement with the Administrations of Primorsky Krai and Nakhodka City District.
In addition to the operating industrial vacuum cleaner “Sibilia”, two vacuum-type sweeping machines with a total value of more than 37 million rubles were acquired. The equipment is intended for operations within the territory of the Specialized and Universal Transshipment Complexes of “Vostochny Port”. The collected industrial waste is removed to the landfill site owned by the company.
On the territory of the Universal Transshipment Complex, a powerful snow generator “Super Crystal” has been operating since 2011. It is capable of producing up to 90 cubic meters of artificial snow per hour for dust suppression during coal handling.
The new snow generator purchased for the Specialized Complex, as well as the existing mobile dust suppression system, will operate all year round. In winter time - it is intended to make a protecting crust on the coal stacks and in summer time - to spray them with water for wetting. The cost of equipment amounted to 6 million rubles. The air treatment units and an aspiration cyclone system are operating around the clock at the Complex premises. There is also a misting system for dust suppression that consists of 144 spray nozzles.
To ensure environmentally friendly operations of the coal terminal, large volumes of water are required which must be multi-filtered after use. Eight treatment plants for industrial waters and surface water run-offs operate within the territory of “Vostochny Port”. One of the sequential multistage treatment facilities intended for industrial, waste and storm waters will be upgraded with a high capacity sludge pump.
“Vostochny Port” is the only stevedore in Primorye operating its own water treatment plants which do not freeze in winter. Water collection for treatment is carried out throughout the area of the industrial complexes.
On March 2, 2018, JSC “Vostochny Port” signed a trilateral agreement with the Primorsky Krai Administration and the Nakhodka City Administration. The total investments in the implementation of environmental measures and the retrofitting of the handling equipment of the operating production facilities and Phase 3 of the Specialized Coal Complex under construction will amount to about 1 billion rubles.
