FESCO Transportation Group says it has expanded its fleet with a multi-purpose dry cargo carrier FESCO Nevelsk with a capacity of 511 TEUs. According FESCO, the vessel was acquired under the group’s programme on upgrading of the fleet and increase of the group’s own tonnage at sea lines amid growing shipping.
The 6,000-dwt ship is intended for transportation of containers, general and dry bulk cargo.
FESCO Nevelsk is fitted with two electric hydraulic cranes with capacity of 40 tonnes each allowing for unloading at ports that are not equipped with cranes, off-harbour transshipment to other vessels and barges as well as to undeveloped beach.
FESCO Nevelsk started operation together with container carrier FESCO Nagayevo at the short-sea service FESCO Korsakov Direct Line linking Vladivostok and Korsakov (Sakhalin).
Shipments from Vladivostok to Korsakov are arranged twice a week with a round voyage taking 7 days and delivery time totaling two days from the departure.
Key characteristics of the ship: length — 99.98 m, breadth — 18.8 m, deadweight — 5,577 t, max speed — 15 knots.
The vessel was built in 2003 in China.
