Fetim finds new location in Amsterdam port
In mid-April, Fetim received some good news from the Environment Service, namely that the planning permission for their new building in Atlaspark had been granted, the company said in its press release. The Amsterdam-based trading company, which specialises in the supply of home accessories such as window decoration, closet systems, floors and sanitary equipment, is building a new 600-metre-long logistics warehouse on an 87,000-square-metre plot. The company, which will be celebrating its centennial in 2019, will be relocating within Port of Amsterdam, to Kaapstadweg in Atlaspark.
Fetim is currently based in two locations in the Port, but in order to improve the efficiency of the logistics system they are focussing on just one location. The logistics distribution centre will be inaugurated in early 2019.
The roof of the logistics facility will be equipped with solar panels. Port of Amsterdam aims to facilitate 100,000 square metres of solar panels on rooftops by 2021. The building will also comply with the BREEAM ‘Very Good’ standard for sustainable buildings.
The company has been making extensive use of the facilities offered by the Port, as it receives large quantities of cargo transported in sea containers. The Silk Road is an example of an additional facility offering benefits to Fetim.
In addition to Fetim, the following businesses are also based in Atlaspark: DHL Parcel, DSV, Riviera Maison, ITG Logistics, G-Star, Kintetsu and Van Straalen de Vries.
