In January-May 2018, the network of Russian Railways loaded 534.9 million tonnes of cargo, up 3.5%, year-on-year, the Company’s press center says.
In the reporting period the railways shipped the following goods: coal – 156.8 million tonnes (+5%, year-on-year); coke – 4.5 million tonnes (-3.9%); crude oil and oil products – 98.8 million tonnes (-0.2%); iron and manganese ore – 46.8 million tonnes (+3.7%); ferrous metal – 33 million tonnes (+11%); ferrous metal scrap – 5.3 million tonnes (-4.8%); chemical and mineral fertilizers – 25.3 million tonnes (+6.3%); cement – 9.2 million tonnes (-4.1%); timber – 19.6 million tonnes (+2.6%); grain – 12.3 million tonnes (+51.8%); construction cargo – 51.9 million tonnes (-1.4%); руды non-ferrous ore and sulphur feedstock – 8.2 million tonnes (-3.2%); chemicals and soda – 11.3 million tonnes (+2.4%); industrial feedstock and moulded materials – 14.4 million tonnes (-1.2%).
From the beginning of the year, freight turnover totaled 1,071.2 billion tariff ton-km (+4.7%). Freight turnover taking into account empty wagon run – 1,364.9 billion ton-km (+4.4%).
In May, loading totaled 110.3 million tonnes (+3.6%). Freight turnover in May grew by 4.4%, year-on-year, to 218.8 billion tariff ton-km. Freight turnover taking into account empty wagon run grew by 4.4% and totaled 277.8 billion ton-km.
