Throughput of Taganrog Sea Commercial Port in H1’2018 totaled 620,000 tonnes, down 12% Y-o-Y

In the first half of 2018, Taganrog Sea Commercial Port (TagSCP, a company of UCL Holding) handled 620,000 tonnes of cargo, down 12%, year-on-year. TagSCP says the fall should be attributed to business decline in foreign trade markets dealing with the port’s key types of cargo, coal and metal, and to seasonal shift of oil cargo to river ports.

Handling of general cargo fell by 48% to 78,000 tonnes. Transshipment of ferrous metal and tubular goods has dropped by half to 45,000 tonnes. Handling of cargo in big-bags decreased by 45% to 33,000 tonnes.

Transshipment of dry bulk and loose cargo remained flat, year-on-year, at 490,000 tonnes. Handling of grain surged 2.2 times to 160,000 tonnes, petcoke — 2.5 times to 11,000 tonnes, ore – by 50% to 43,000 tonnes. Coal transshipment dropped by 27% to 276,000 tonnes.

Negative dynamics was also shown by liquid bulk cargo – down 29% to 49,500 tonnes.

Container throughput of TagSCP totaled 1,000 TEU (2,300 tonnes), down 11%, year-on-year.

In January-June 2018, TagSCP handled 489,000 tonnes of export cargo and 47,500 tonnes of import cargo. Coastal trade cargo handling totaled 83,500 tonnes. Exports and imports accounted for 79% and 8% of the company’s total throughput with domestic shipments making 13%. In the reporting period, Taganrog Sea Commercial Port handled 6,898 railcars and 149 vessels.

AO Taganrog Sea Commercial Port (TagSCP, a company of UCL Port, stevedoring division of the international transportation group UCL Holding) is a key stevedoring company operating at the port of Taganrog.  The company operates at the port’s Berths No 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7 and 8.
