Taganrog Sea Commercial Port spent USD 38,000 under its environmental programme in H1’2018
AO Taganrog Sea Commercial Port (TagSCP, a company of UCL Holding), says it spent USD 38,000 under its environmental programme in the first half of 2018.
In the reporting period, TagSCP performed a number of activities aimed at protection of water resources from possible contamination, performed quality monitoring and bacteriological survey of sea water. The company also ensured permanent readiness of the emergency response team to oil spill response activities.
As part of air protection activities, the company performed air pollution measurements and analysis of samples taken at workplaces and in residential areas neighboring the port territory. The monitoring confirmed compliance of the air with quality standards. To ensure coal dust suppression during coal handling operations, the company applied the technology of spraying water in the zone of loading/unloading of coal and in adjacent areas.
Besides, environmental situation was improved through implementation of the company’s programme on modernization of its handling equipment. State-of-the-art cranes fitted with enlarged grabs let reduce the number of handling operations and considerably decrease the impact of port infrastructure on the environment.
To comply with the sanitary-epidemiological requirements on industrial waste management the company ensured timely accumulation and disposal of waste.
