The patrol ship of the Baltic Fleet Yaroslav Mudry and the tanker Lena completed their missions in the Mediterranean Sea and sailed through the Strait of Gibraltar to the Atlantic, heading to base port of Baltiysk, says press center of RF Defence Ministry.
For more than five months in the area, the crew of the Yaroslav Mudryi carried out anti-piracy watch in the Gulf of Aden, made a number of business visits to African ports, and also took part in large-scale maneuvers of the Russian Navy conducted under the leadership of the Navy Commander Admiral Vladimir Korolev off the Syrian coast.
It is planned that the detachment will go to the main naval base in late October.
The Yaroslav Muriy left Baltiysk on April 15. Its main goal during the long-distant mission is to demonstrate the Naval Ensign, fulfil tasks in accordance with combat training and ensuring maritime safety in the Gulf of Aden and Horn of Africa.
