Onezhsky Shipyard delivered ice-class buoy tender named Fortuna

Onezhsky Shipbuilding, Ship Repair Yard (Petrozavodsk, Republic of Karelia) says it completed sea trials of ice-class buoy tender named Fortuna and delivered it to the customer on 5 October 2018.

The Fortuna, an ice-class buoy tender, is intended for installation and maintenance of aids to navigation as well as for transportation of general cargo. 

The ship will be deployed at the port of Kaliningrad. It is intended for placing and maintenance of aids to navigation at the approaches to the port and in it water area, as well as for transportation and loading/unloading of general cargo involving port facilities or a shipboard crane.

The ship was launched on 4 May in Petrozavodsk. Upon completion of outfitting, mooring and sea trials the ship was acknowledged ready for commissioning which confirmed the ship’s readiness for operation and her good characteristic.

The ship’s characteristics: class notation - КМ Ice3 R3-RSN AUT3, LOA – 22.2 m, BOA – 6.6 m, draught – ≈1.5 m, speed – 10 knots, crew/special personnel – 2/5, fuel endurance – 650 nautical miles, total capacity of main propulsion engines – 824 kW.

Onezhsky Shipbuilding, Ship Repair Yard (Onega Shipyard) was founded in 2002 on the basis of shiprepair facilities of the Belomorsky-Onezhsky Shipping Company, formed in 1944. In 2011, after the enterprise management dismissal the production stopped, and the company went bankrupt. In late 2014 the enterprise was transferred to the state ownership and resumed its shipbuilding / repair activity.
