In January-October 2018, 3.64 million TEUs of containers were transported on the network owned by Russian Railways on all types of routes, 13.6% more year-on-year.
1.57 million TEUs were dispatched on domestic routes during the first 10 months of the year, up 4.9%, while the number of transit containers jumped by 31.2% to 435,900 TEUs. Exported container numbers amounted to 928,800 TEUs (+17.5%), while the number of imported containers was 704,000 TEUs, up 20.5%.
In January-October, the transportation of loaded containers on all types of routes increased by 13.4% to 2.4 million TEUs which was equivalent to over 34.4 million tons of freight, an increase of 12%. The following categories of freight were transported: chemicals and soda – 406,000 TEUs (+9.8%); timber – 313,400 (+40.9%); paper – 257,800 (+7.4%); industrial goods – 231,300 (+9.5%); fabricated metal products – 218,100 (+13.5%); cars – 182,600 (+23.5%); machines, machine tools, engines – 174,900 (+21%); ferrous metal – 101,200 (+17.2%); non-ferrous metal – 89,800 (-2.7%); construction materials – 84,200 (+13.6%); chemical and mineral fertilisers – 35,500 (-21.9%).
In October, 400,200 TEUs of containers were transported on the network owned by Russian Railways on all types of routes, 12.5% more than in October 2017.
