Russian Railways’ BoD makes decision on discounts for cargo transportation in 2019

The Board of Directors of Russian Railways chaired by Oleg Belozerov, General Director of the company, made 11 decisions on reduction of tariffs for cargo transportation through “tariff corridor” in 2019. According to the statement, they cover transportation of containerized cargo, oil, copper ore, metal scrap, food and agricultural products including transportation involving Baltijsk – Ust-Luga ferry service.

The tariffs are based on comprehensive marketing evaluation focused on competitiveness of railway transportation and Russian goods in the international market.

Some of the decisions cover long periods of time allowing for stable volumes of certain cargo.

Earlier in November, Russian Railways made 14 decisions on reduction of tariffs for cargo transportation through “tariff corridor” in 2019. They covered containerized cargo, passenger cars, oil cargo including gas condensate, butadiene, tubulars, fruit and vegetables imported from the Central Asia, as well as transportation of cargo involving Kavkaz-Poti/Batumi-Kavkaz.

As for discounts for 2018, Russian Railways made 59 decisions allowing to additionally attract about 9 million tonnes of cargo. All tariff preferences offered to consignors are estimated at RUB 11 billion.
