Storage area line launched at Vostochny Port’s Phase 3
Ceremonial launching of a storage area line including main conveyor, stacker and reclaimer took place at Phase 3 of Vostochny Port. The facility of was kicked off by Deputy Prime Minister Maxim Akimov and Transport Minister Yevgeny Ditrikh in the framework of the 12th International Forum “Transport of Russia” (Moscow, November 20-22), says press center of Vostochny Port JSC, operator of Russia’s largest dedicated coal port (part of Port Management Company, PMC LLC).
The new equipment is intended for fast and environmentally friendly handling of coal in the storage area of a hi-tech terminal being built in the port. Phase 3 of the dedicated coal terminal will have 45 covered container lines with total length exceeding 13 km, two stackers, four reclaimers, a closed facility with tandem railcar dumpers and two shiploading machines.
“This equipment will ensure loading/unloading of 3,000 tonnes per hour via several technological routes. High performance of Phase 3 facilities will let Vostochny Port increase its annual throughput from 25 to 45 million tonnes starting from 2019”, emphasized Irina Olkhovskaya, Deputy General Director of Port Management Company.
Vostochny Port’s Phase 3 is the largest private port investment project in the Far East of Russia. It is being implemented through public private partnership without involving state financing. Total investments exceed RUB 32 billion including RUB 4.7 billion earmarked for the development of federal railway infrastructure.
