PSA signed the final agreement yesterday through its subsidiary PSA Gwadar, cementing an agreement with the Gwadar Port Authority, Ministry of Ports & Shipping and the Government of Pakistan
Aziz said the first vessel is likely to anchor at Gwadar in March. The government aims to turn Pakistan’s second deepsea port after Karachi into a free-trade zone.
Currently, Gwadar Port has a quay length of 602 m with 14.5 m of depth alongside, which can be increased to 16 m in the future.
The port has significant room for expansion to cope with growth in demand. The current terminal is capable of handling both conventional and containerised cargo.
