Ingenico (France) appoints Kuehne + Nagel as its strategic global logistics partner
Kuehne + Nagel has announced today the signing of an agreement with Ingenico, a global leader in electronic payment systems headquartered in France. The deal will see Kuehne + Nagel take full responsibility of the management of all shipments from suppliers to all the subsidiaries of the payment terminal vendor within Europe, the Americas and Asia.
Replacing a variety of freight forwarders, Kuehne + Nagel will act as unique interface to Ingenico for all international transport-related processes. Kuehne + Nagel will be offering multi-modal (air, sea and road) transportation services as well as customs clearance to cover the logistics needs of Ingenico from door-to-door.
Considering the nature and high sensitivity of the items, the majority of the shipments will be carried out by air – over 1,000 tons a year. The agreement also includes the management of a 3,000 sqm warehousing operation in a multi-user facility in Rouen/ France where items are stored, picked, dispatched and delivered by road throughout Western Europe.
The decision to further integrate transportation services with a single international logistics services provider is a decisive strategic move for Ingenico in the optimisation of its entire supply chain. “With our dynamically expanding international coverage all over the globe and in a world of payments which is constantly changing and diversifying, the crucial aspect in Kuehne + Nagel winning this contract was their offering of a seamless and cost-effective solution combining all the transportation modes. This supply chain organisation will help us in our strategy for improving our efficiency towards our customers”, Eric Grenier, Corporate Purchasing Director for Ingenico, commented.
Tobias Jerschke, Senior Vice-President, Corporate & Business Development at Kuehne + Nagel Southwest Europe region said :“With Ingenico, we engage in a significant partnership, acting as a true integrated logistics partner covering transport as well as contract logistics operations. The signing of this contract is a significant milestone for Kuehne + Nagel to further extend its presence in the European high-tech & telecommunications market. We look forward to a long and successful partnership.”
