The volume of freight loaded across the rail network of Russian Railways (RZD) between January and February totaled 205.4 million tonnes, which is 0.9% higher than the same period 2018, the state-owned rail operator said.
The two-month freight loaded by railways of RZD across the country include: 63.1 million tonnes of coal (+ 3.2%); 1.86 million tonnes of coke (+ 4.4%); - 39.5 million tonnes of crude oil and oil products (+ 0.1%); 19.1 million tonnes of iron and manganese ores (+ 8.1%); 12.7 million tonnes of ferrous metals (+ 0.5%); 1.39 million tonnes of ferrous scrap (-4.9%); 10.2 million tonnes of chemical and mineral fertilizers (+ 2%); 2.6 million tonnes of cement (-3.5%); 7.1 million tonnes of timber cargo (-0.3%); 4.1 million tonnes of grain (-8.3%); 16.8 million tonnes of construction materials (-7.6%); 2.96 million tonnes of ores of color and sulfur raw materials (-5.2%); 4.3 million tonnes of chemicals and soda (-3.9%); and 5 million tonnes of industrial raw materials and molding materials (-5.1%).
According to RZD report year-to-date freight throughput rose 1.9% to 419.7 billion TKM tariffs, inclusive of empty car mileage – 536.6 bn TKM (+ 2%).
In February RZD loaded volume was slightly higher on Feb. 2018 reaching 100 million tonnes. The month freight throughput of RZD increased by 1.4% to 199.3 bn TKM, with empty car mileage at 255.4 bn TKM.
