ZPMC and partners complete verification of 5G smart terminal program jointly

ZPMC reports that it has recently together with Qingdao Port Group, China Unicom and Ericsson, completed the first show of the new year on New Qianwan Automatic Terminal of Qingdao Port, where the control was made on STSs with 5G communication to pick and transport containers through wireless network. It was the first 5G remote operation on STSs in actual operation conditions in the globe, indicating the 5G era for smart terminals.

At present, the development of smart terminals has strict requirements on the communication, which should be of the short time delay, large bandwidth and high reliability in complicated working conditions. 5G network is used in the construction and operation of smart terminals with advantages on differential performance, making the breakthrough on traditional operation modes, improving the operation efficiency of automatic terminals greatly, thus, driving the restructure of traditional terminals under manual operation.

In the show, the combined loading of industrial control signals of ms delay and more than 30-circuit high definition camera video data was made in 5G network successfully, supporting the wireless control and replay of video on STSs in the actual operation, making sure the stable performance. The site verification was made on the application of 5G technology in smart ports as well as many key techniques and the overall evaluation was made on the feasibility of 5G network in smart terminals.

ZPMC, along with Qingdao Port Group, China Unicom and Ericsson, deepened the resources investment in the 5G smart terminal program on the basis of respective advantages. ZPMC provided the accurate application scene definitions and test support on the basis of deep understanding of smart ports. China Unicom made coordination on various resources, controlled the progress of the project, led the design of the end-to-end program and provided strong support for the construction of site and the test on the site. Ericsson made the layout of mature 5G network equipment and terminals on the experience of the global 5G industrial application. The New Qianwan Automatic Terminal of Qingdao Port Group provided the actual operation conditions for the test as well as the advanced production experience and site support for the test.

ZPMC, China Unicom, Ericsson and Qingdao Port Group made positive affirmation on the results of the 5G smart terminal test and will make wider site expansion and deeper program exploration on the application of 5G technology in smart terminals.
