Today, a detachment of ships of the Northern Fleet completed the transfer from the Mediterranean to the Red Sea through the Suez Canal, says press center of RF Defence Ministry.
The passage of the Northern Fleet detachment along the canal took several hours, during which the main task was to ensure the safe maneuvering of the frigate and auxiliary vessel.
During the voyage, anti-sabotage defence issues were also practiced and anti-terrorism measures were carried out.
Since leaving Severomorsk the Northern Fleet’s main base, Russian sailors have made more than 5,900 nautical miles.
Further, the detachment of the Northern Fleet will operate in accordance with the plans for a long-distant cruise in the waters of the Red Sea.
