First batch of liquefied natural gas (7,300) tonnes was shipped on 31 March 2019 from the port of Vysotsk to Finland by the Coral Energice tanker. LNG was produced by a mid-size LNG plant in Vysotsk (Leningrad Region). More shipments are planned for heat power industries of Scandinavian countries, Finland and Sweden.
This information has been confirmed for IAA PortNews by three sources connected with the project.
One more tanker, Coral Anthelia, is under loading procedure at the terminal in Vysotsk now.
As it was reported earlier, the project on construction of a terminal for production, storage and shipment of liquefied natural gas (LNG) at the port of Vysotsk of the Leningrad Region is the largest one in the North-Western Region of Russia. The facility will be able to produce 660,000 tonnes of LNG per year will be among the three largest plants in Europe. Finland and Baltic states will be the key sales markets. Apart from LNG transshipment, the terminal will also let arrange bunkering of LNG-powered vessels. The project also includes construction of an offshoot pipeline from the main gas pipeline via Vyborg to the border (Leningrad-Vyborg-Gosgranitsa). The terminal is run by NOVATEK.
