OMZ to supply shipping container for PSI Megapie project
Skoda JS, a subsidiary company of OMZ (Uralmash-Izhora Group) (RTS: OMZZ; LSE: OMZD; OTC: UHMVY), has marked its entry into the Swiss market with an agreement to supply a TC1 shipping container to the Paul Scherrer Institute (PSI), a multi-disciplinary research centre for natural sciences and technology. The value of the contract is approximately €500,000. The container will be shipped in early 2008.
The container is designed for transportation of an activated target. It will be used as part of the Megapie project (Megawatt Pilot Target Experiment, http://megapie.web.psi.ch/ studying the transmutation of nuclear waste. The container’s dimensions will be 1.1 meters in diameter and 6 meters long, and its weight will be around 40 tons.
The signed contract marks Skoda’s entry into the Swiss market. The Skoda’s selection as a supplier followed a thorough audit by PSI of Skoda’s abilities.

Skoda JS, acting as a major contractor, has supplied the primary components including the nuclear fuel handling systems to the following nuclear power plants: Bohunice and Mochovce in Slovakia, Dukovany and Temelín in the Czech Republic.
