In 2018, Russian ship owners got 29 new seagoing commercial ships with total deadweight of 552,400 tonnes. According to Central Marine Research and Design Institute (CNIIMF), 38% of them were built by domestic shipyards, 62% - by foreign ones.
Multipurpose vessels accounted for 62% of newbuilds (18 units), tankers – for 28% (7 units), passenger ships – for 7% (2 units). Besides one regasification unit was put into operation last year.
The most popular were vessels of Project VARD 921 (11 units) and RSD59 (6 units).
