Russian ship owners got 29 new seagoing commercial ships with total deadweight of 552,400 tonnes in 2018 - CNIIMF

In 2018, Russian ship owners got 29 new seagoing commercial ships with total deadweight of 552,400 tonnes. According to Central Marine Research and Design Institute (CNIIMF), 38% of them were built by domestic shipyards, 62% - by foreign ones.

Multipurpose vessels accounted for 62% of newbuilds (18 units), tankers – for 28% (7 units), passenger ships – for 7% (2 units). Besides one regasification unit was put into operation last year.

The most popular were vessels of Project VARD 921 (11 units) and RSD59 (6 units). 

Central Marine Research and Design Institute (CNIIMF) was established in 1929. It is Russia’s leading scientific organisation in the area of maritime transport.
