In January-May 2019, the port of Kaliningrad handled 4,981,400 tonnes of cargo, down 18%, year-on-year, says Baltic Sea Ports Administration.
Transshipment of dry bulk cargo dropped by 24% to 738,300 tonnes including 427,000 tonnes of coal (-3%), 4,200 tonnes of mineral fertilizers (-19%) and 296,900 tonnes of other cargoes (-43%).
Transshipment of dry loose cargo declined by 9% to 1,678,600 tonnes, general cargo – by 7% to 563,100 tonnes.
The port also handled 342,600 tonnes of cargo carried by ferries (-38%) and 1,065,400 tonnes of liquid bulk cargo (-33%) including 443,200 tonnes of oil products (-58%), 247,700 tonnes of crude oil (+3%) and 348,700 tonnes of food cargo (+21%).
The port’s container throughput grew by 34%, year-on-year, to 131,920 TEUs.
