Throughput of port Azov in 6M’19 fell by 31% to 3.89 million tonnes

In January-June 2019, seaport of Azov handled 3.895 million tonnes of cargo, down 31%, year-on-year. According to the stevedoring companies’ statistics, internal turnover of Azov seaport fell by 34% to 3.122 million tonnes. 

Imports grew by 12% to 188,000 tonnes, exports fell by 10% to 2.123 million tonnes, short-sea traffic – 2.8 times to 788,000 tonnes, transit – by 17% to 773,000 tonnes.

In the reporting period, coal transshipment grew by 55% to 865,000 tonnes. Transshipment of grain fell by 52% to 1.784 million tonnes, oil products – by 13% to 986,000 tonnes.

Turnover of vessels at the port of Azov totaled 1,295 arrivals and 1,305 departures versus 1,842 arrivals and 1,848 departures in the 6-months period of the previous year.

Port of Azov is situated on the banks of the Don river. It is the main gateway between the Mediterranean Sea with the inland waterways of Russia and the Caspian Sea, for freight flows to the central part of Russia, the Urals and Central Asia. The boundaries of the port's basin include the River Don from the 3151.0-km stretch, the Koysug River to the receiving Buoy No 1 of Azov-Don Sea Canal, including outer anchorage No. 6 and the Calancea bayou to Dugino stop-over point.
