A 1,148-foot-long French emissary is celebrating Independence Day at the Port of Oakland today. The container ship CMA CGM Ivanhoe arrived here last night, making a big splash in San Francisco Bay, the port said in a press release.
The CMA CGM Group ship’s hull was draped with four 30’X60’ American flags which unfurled near the Golden Gate Bridge Wednesday afternoon. Horn blasts and water cannons heralded the ship’s arrival on the eve of July 4th. Families and friends gathered at Fort Point and Chrissy Fields to enjoy views of the ship.
The CMA CGM Group delivers more containerized cargo to Oakland than any other carrier. CMA CGM Group has 11 weekly services calling the Port of Oakland. Based in Marseille, CMA CGM Group has its U.S. corporate office in Norfolk, Va.
