Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev supports providing privileges to Far East ship repair companies from 2020

Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev has supported providing privileges to ship repair companies, says press center of the Primorsk Territory Government. That issue was discussed at the working meeting of Dmitry Medvedev with Oleg Kozhemyako, the Region’s Governor. They covered tax and other privileges earlier provided for upgrading, modernization and renovation of vessels. Also, they discussed the obligatory call of Russian vessels that undergo repair in foreign countries to the ports of the Primorsky Territory for customs clearance, abolition of property tax for floating docks and extension of the list of ship repair equipment not subject to customs duty.

“The Prime Minister supported most of the decision. Ad hoc bodies, particularly the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Customs Service are to elaborate the mechanisms so that required regulations could be available from 2020 to begin the revival of ship repair and generation of new jobs. I think such decisions will let see the prospects of shipbuilding and ship repair in the Far East for many years ahead”, commented Oleg Kozhemyako after the meeting.
