According to the information provided by Ukrmorrechflot (State Department of sea and river transport of Ukraine) cargo turnover of Ukraine’s commercial seaports totaled 112.565 million tons in 2006 (+3.2%, year-on-year), including 55.8 million tons of export (-3.5%, year-on-year), which makes 49.6% of total turnover, RZD-Partner reports. In 2005 exports made 53% of total turnover and grew by 0.3%. Ukraine’s state sector comprises 19 ports. 7 of them demonstrated growth of export cargo transshipment. Positive growth dynamics was demonstrated by 3ports – Mariupol (+9.6% to 11.145 million tons of export), Nikolayev (+27.3%, to 2.413 million tons), Kherson (+10.5%, to 1.531 million tons).
Transshipment of transit cargo totaled 43.47 million tons (+11.4%, year-on-year; in 2005 - -8.2%), which makes 38.3% of total turnover (in 2005, it made 35.7%). The leaders in transshipment of transit cargo are the ports of Berdyansk and Belgorod-Dnestrovski (+64.1% and +78.8% correspondingly). Growth in transshipment of transit cargo was demonstrated by 14 of 19 commercial seaports of Ukraine.
As for transshipment of import cargo, it grew by 15.4% to 9.53 million tons (in 2005 - +19.3%). Import made 8.5% of total turnover (in 2005 – 7.5%). Transshipment of import cargo grew in 9 ports including Odessa and Iljichevsk (+34.7% and +9.7% correspondingly).
Transshipment of dry cargo grew by 2.4% (+2.109 million tons, to 91.86 million tons), while in 2005 it grew by 8.2% (+6.81 million tons). Positive dynamics was demonstrated by nine ports including Mariupol and Odessa (+7.1% and +7.6% correspondingly).
