Throughput of port Helsinki (Finland) in Jan-June’19 fell by 6.1% to 7.14 million tonnes (table)

In January-June 2019, the Port of Helsinki (Finland) handled 7.14 million tonnes of cargo (-6.1%, year-on-year), the port authority says.

According to the statement, transshipment of dry bulk cargo fell by 31% to 708,770 tonnes, container throughput grew by 2% to 267,350 TEUs.

Turnover of trucks and semitrailers decreased by 2.6% to 292,900units.

In the reporting period, passenger traffic fell by 0.9% to 5.3 million passengers. The number of calls fell by 4.1% to 3,799.

The Port of Helsinki is one of the largest ports in Finland, the largest passenger port and the third largest in the Baltic Sea. The Port of Helsinki accounts for 77% of Finland's passenger traffic. In 2018, the port handled 14.7 mln t of cargo (+3.3%, year-on-year).
