Kherson shipbuilding plant (Ukraine) has laid down a supply vessel for Norwegian company Myklebust Prosjekt AS, Ukraine Industrial reports. The vessel is to be deployed at the shelf for supply of drilling platforms. It is to deliver cement, fuel, drinking water and other types of cargo to the platforms. The project has been developed by Rolls Royce Marine AS. Such vessels are very popular at the world market. Freight rates for such a vessel total about $50,000 per day. The vessel’s length is 68.9 m, breadth – 16.8 m, depth – 7.2 m. The hull construction needs over 1,500 tons of metal. Major structures are to be produced of high-strength steel grade WELDOX to be delivered from Western Europe. The vessel is scheduled for delivery in 2007. The management of the yard negotiates with Myklebust Prosjekt AS on construction of two other supply vessels.
