In January-August 2019, the port of Kaliningrad handled 7,605,000 tonnes of cargo, down 21%, year-on-year, says Baltic Sea Ports Administration.
Transshipment of dry bulk cargo dropped by 29% to 1,121,000 tonnes including 630,500 tonnes of coal (-14%), 4,200 tonnes of mineral fertilizers (-32%) and 2,188,900 tonnes of other cargoes (+9%).
Transshipment of dry loose cargo declined by 12% to 2,586,600 tonnes, general cargo – by 22% to 880,700 tonnes.
The port also handled 499,800 tonnes of cargo carried by ferries (-35%) and 1,535,400 tonnes of liquid bulk cargo (-35%) including 565,500 tonnes of oil products (-61%), 352,800 tonnes of crude oil (-6%) and 575,700 tonnes of food cargo (+20%).
The port’s container throughput grew by 29%, year-on-year, to 227,032 TEUs.
