Oil export via the port of Primorsk up 23% in Jan. 07, y-o-y

In January 2007, Spetsmornefteport “Primorsk”  LLC (Leningrad region, Transneft subsidiary) exported 6236.9 thou tons of oil (+23%), administration of the seaport of Saint Petersburg reports.

The port of Primorsk was put into operation on December 27, 2001 as the final stage of the first phase of Baltic Pipeline System (BPS) aimed at oil transportation from Timano-Pechersk and West-Siberia oil-and-gas provinces as well as from Kazakhstan. PBS’s annual capacity as of the date of commissioning was 12 million tons. In 2003 PBS’s capacity was increased to 30 million tons of oil per year. Today its capacity is 65 million tons.
