Thiel Logistik acquires majority stake in new Chilean company
Thiel Logistik has strengthened its presence in South America with the acquisition of a majority holding in the newly founded company, Birkart Globistics Chile.
Headquartered in Santiago, the new company is owned by Thiel business unit Birkart Globistics air + ocean and its current partner, company Globistics Chile.
Pedro Pablo Aldunate, a former managing partner of Globistics Chile, is managing director of Birkart Globistics Chile.
“By integrating Globistics Chile into the worldwide network of Birkart Globistics, we are establishing the basis for a strong commitment to the South America growth market,” commented Berndt-Michael Winter, CEO of Thiel Logistik’s board of directors.
Birkart Globistics air + ocean has worked closely with Globistics Chile as a partner company for many years, and has completed a wide range of ocean and air freight service projects, especially shipments from Asia to Chile.
In addition to its offices in Brazil and Peru, the organisation in Chile means that Birkart Globistics now owns its third local subsidiary in South America.
“Setting up this joint company represents a major component in the strategic expansion of our network in South America,” said Helmut Kaspers, Birkart Globistics air + ocean CEO.
