DCN well-placed for 700-800 mln eur naval-ship order from Bulgaria
French shipyard DCN is well-placed to win an order from Bulgaria worth 700-800 mln eur to build four naval ships, according to business daily Les Echos. The Bulgarian authorities indicated during a recent visit by French prime minister Dominique de Villepin that DCN is near to securing the order, Les Echos said, citing sources close to the negotiations. The order involves supplying four corvettes of the 'Gowind' type that DCN has developed for export. State-owned DCN recently confirmed an alliance with Thales (other-otc: THLEF.PK - news - people ) under which DCN will take over most of Thales' naval activities, while Thales will take a 25 pct stake in DCN. The European Commission is due to complete its review of the agreement by March 19.
