Hapag Lloyd's parent TUI AG said in December that it hoped to sell its facilities in Montreal, which were acquired as part of Hapag-Lloyd's 2005 purchase of CP Ships when it bought the Cast and Racine terminals at the inland river port.
Macquarie would not comment on a possible deal, but the Gazette quoted a Hapag-Lloyd source as identifying Macquarie as being one of the companies interested in the terminal sale.
Last year, Macquarie agreed to acquire the Halterm container terminal in Halifax, Nova Scotia Canada's principal Atlantic port.
