Total deadweight of Novoship to reach 5 million tons by the end of 2010

Management of Novorossijsk Shipping Company has revealed the program for enlargement of the company’s fleet, according to which total deadweight of Novoship is to grow from 3.8 to 5 million tons by the end of 2010, Commersant reports according to YUGA.ru.  The fleet is to take 6 Aframax vessels with total deadweight of 670,000 tons and 2 Handymax oil product carriers with deadweight of 80,000 tons. The vessels are to be built at Samsung Heavy Industries (South Korea). The first tanker is due for delivery in May, 2007. In 2007 Novoship plans to enlarge the fleet of its Aframax tankers to 27 to be the third ship owner in the world in terms of this type of tankers.

Novoship management has not disclosed total volume of investments into fleet modernization.

As of today, the fleet of Novoship numbers 62 modern vessels with a total deadweight of 3.8 million tons. It includes 13 vessels with total deadweight of 0.5 million tons, 21 Aframax tankers with deadweight from 105,000 to 115,000 tons, 3 Panamax (67.98 thou tons), 29 oil product carriers (from 16.97 to 40.727 thou tons) and 4 bulk cargo carriers (up to 24.105 thou tons). The fleet’s market value is about $2.4 billion. In 2006 Novoship carried 66.7 million tons of cargo (+30%, year-on-year), including 9.5 million tons of Russian cargo (+5%, year-on-year). In 2006 the company’s proceeds exceeded $500 million, operational income - $300 million, IFRS net profit – about $180 million.
