Crew of Norwegian ship rescued after their vessel starts sinking off Polish coast
The Polish coast guard rescued the crew of a Norwegian ship sinking in the Baltic Sea off the Polish coast, Poland's Maritime Ministry said Sunday.
After rescuers took the eight sailors from the Ocean Caroline to safety, a Swedish cutter began towing the ship to Sweden, the ministry said in a statement.
It was believed that the ship began to sink after an excessive amount of ice built up on one side, forcing the vessel to tilt and take on water, the ministry said.
