ANL adds Oakland call to service
ANL will be adding a direct call at the Northern California port of Oakland into its fixed-day weekly service between New Zealand, Australia, Asia and the United States in joint operation with USL.
This service will cater to export cargoes from both New Zealand and Australia for Oakland which is the major port of entry for cargoes entering the northern Californian markets. This service extension also gives exporters in Shekou and Hong Kong further access to the northern Californian market.
In addition to catering to export cargoes from both New Zealand and Australia, the direct calls at Oakland will provide opportunities to exporters from northern California into the Australian and New Zealand markets.
The first vessel, the USL KEA, will be introduced into the service from New Zealand on March 16 and from Australia on March 22 from Melbourne, and then from the Far East on April 8 from Hong Kong. This will provide arrivals at Oakland for the first time, starting on April 23. The inclusion of Oakland into the schedule will provide port rotation of Tauranga, Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Shekou, Hong Kong, Oakland and Los Angeles.
This port addition will result in a delayed departure from Los Angeles by 24 hours with the fixed departure from Los Angeles now being on Friday morning. The addition of the call will mean a slight change to the line's schedule. "We are confident though, that this delayed departure, will assist Southern California exporters to take advantage of the additional time for cargo delivery," said a company statement.
With this service having been in operation since July 2006 and having achieved excellent results by way of schedule integrity and cargo availability as advertised, the inclusion of a direct call at Oakland is a further service extension to both importers and exporters in the US, New Zealand, Australia and Hong Kong/South China by the worldwide shipping services offered by ANL.
