In 2006, RZD OJSC increased transportation of ferrous metal by 10.6%, year-on-year, to 94.7 million tons. Transportation of ore grew by 6.7% - to 120.4 million tons, Vadim Morozov, vice-president of RZD OJSC told Wednesday at the conference RZD-Metallurgy in Moscow. In three years of RZD OJSC existence transportation of ferrous metals grew by 14%. According to Morozov, “just-in-time” index of ferrous metal delivery by Russian Railways makes 93.5%, ore – 95%, coke – 95.1%. The “narrow space” in relations between railway and representatives of metallurgical industry is the link of railways with the ports. “Our general task is to develop logistics,” Morozov says.
