Container turnover of Ukraine’s ports up 23.7% in 2006

In 2006, container turnover of Ukraine’s ports grew by 23.7%, year-on-year, to 729.397 thou TEU, Ukraine’s Transport and Communications Ministry reports according to RZD-Partner. In 2005 container turnover grew by 43.7%, in 2004 – 27.7%. Import of container grew by 25.2% in 2006 – to 372.48 thou TEU, export – by 21.9% to 356.476 thou. The share of empty containers totaled 38.6% (281.151 thou TEU), +30%, year-on-year, while handling of loaded containers grew by 20.4% (to 447.805 thou TEU).
