The turnover of Birka Line Abp was EUR 94.70 million in 2006 compared to 115.46 million in the previous year. The result before taxes turned from a loss of EUR 8.5 million in 2005 to a profit of EUR 20.7 million in 2006. The result included EUR 18.57 from the selling of the cruise vessel Birka Princess and the ro-ro vessel Kent Loyalist.
Despite fierce competition in the short cruise business this year’s result is expected to be better than in 2006 if the profit from the selling of the ships is excluded. Last autumn Birka Line launched a massive programme for cost reductions.
