Russia's infrastructure needs development, First Deputy PM says

Russia's transport infrastructure should be developed rather than modernized, the First Deputy Prime Minister Sergei Ivanov told the Russian Transportation Ministry's Board meeting today. He pointed out that it was impossible to modernize something that had been created 50-60 years ago. Ivanov also said that one of Russia's main problems was mechanical engineering in general and civil shipbuilding in particular. He added that Russia lacked transportation and Russia needed to develop domestic market. Furthermore, shipbuilding had to be the country's top priority. Ivanov believes that Russia also needs to expedite the process of drafting a bill on seaports.
