MOL Ferry and Kyushu Kyuko Ferry to merge

Mitsui OSK Lines has announced that MOL Ferry and Kyushu Kyuko Ferry have agreed to merge, effective June 1, 2007. MOL Ferry and Kyushu Kyuko Ferry offer ro/ro service between Kanto and Kyushu. The merger aims to improve sales capabilities, cost competitiveness, and customer satisfaction on these routes while also contributing to the government's modal shift program.
The merged company will operate as MOL Ferry Co Ltd, with its HQ in Tokyo. The company will be directed by chairman Seiji Nakamura and president Yutaka Okamoto.
The company’s main business will be:
-Ferry service between Oarai and Tomakomai (two arrivals and departures per day)
-Ro/ro service between Tokyo and Hakata (one arrival and departure per day)
-Ro/ro service between Yokosuka (Oppama), Omaezaki, Kanda, and Oita (four arrivals and departures per week)
