Freight turnover of the Latvian railway has reduced by 7.9 % to 12.6 million tons

Freight turnover of Latvijas dzelzcels State JSC (the Latvian railway, LDz) totaled 12.603 million tons in the first quarter of the current year, that is 7.9 % less, than figures for the similar period of the last year, RZHD-Partner writes. For the last three months most cargoes have been shipped by international transportations i.e. 12.256 million tons (- 8.3 %), including 11.026 million tons shipped by transit (-8.1 %), 9.482 million tons of them (-9.7 %) - through the Latvian ports. Freight turnover of import transportations has totaled 1.062 million tons (-5.7 %), and 168.5 million tons of export (-32.7 %). For the first three months of 2006 freight turnover of internal transportations has increased by 9 % to 347.2 million tons. In 2005 freight turnover of LDz has totaled 54.861 million tons
