Damen Shipyards Ocean (Nikolyev, Ukraine) has launched the Michail Sinitsa service-and-river-going dry cargo carrier ordered by national shipping company Ukrrechflot, shipbuilding.ru reports. The vessel is the eighth in the series of DWT 6,300 vessels able to sail with the speed exceeding 11 knots and to weather a 4-ball storm. It is designed for transportation of both dry cargo and containers. The series is being built within the framework of cooperation of Ukrrechflot and Ukraine’s leading shipbuilding yard under EBRD guarantees.
According to Nikolai Romanchuk, Director General of Damen Shipyards Ocean, the staff of which numbers 3 thou persons, the yard is fully booked for today. Besides Ukrrechflot’s order,it includes three Damen combined cargo carriers, seven multi-purpose dry cargo carriers as well as hulls and metal structures for different shipyards of international shipbuilding company Aker Yards, which has recently become the co-owner of Damen Shipyards Ocean.
