Transportation of containerized cargo to reach 145 million TEU by 2010 – FESCO forecast

By 2010 transportation of containerized cargo will reach 145 million TEU, FESCO’s head Evgeni Ambrosov told at international conference “TransRussia-2007” according to PortNews IAA reporter. Ambrosov says world volume of container transportation totaled 73 million TEU in 2001 while last three-five years saw a steady trend in growth of world volume of containerized cargo transported by sea – about 7-8% per year. In 2006 container transportation grew by 10%, to 120 million TEU, while average growth of cargo transportation between Asia and Europe grew by 11% in 2006. According to Ambrosov, nearest seven-eight years will sea the same tendency.
