SOCARENAM and MAURIC secure tender for new generation patrol vessel

The Directorate General for Maritime Affairs, Fisheries and Aquaculture (DGAMPA) has commissioned the SOCARENAM-MAURIC consortium to design and build an innovative offshore patrol vessel, according to the company's release. This vessel, combining hybrid propulsion with wind assistance, marks a significant step towards reducing the environmental impact of maritime surveillance operations.

The contract was awarded on December 5, 2024, aligning with DGAMPA's dual strategy of modernizing its fleet and enhancing environmental sustainability.

The patrol vessel incorporates several innovative features, including wind-assisted propulsion, diesel-electric hybrid propulsion, optimized hull design, and enhanced insulation.

These technologies, combined with IMO TIER III compliant engines, significantly reduce fuel consumption and emissions.

With a length of 54 meters and a crew capacity of 20, the vessel is designed for extended 12-day missions. Equipped with two launch and recovery systems for 6.50-meter fast semi-rigid inflatable boats, it is capable of high-speed interceptions.

Construction will take place at Socarenam's shipyard in Boulogne-Sur-Mer, with delivery scheduled for the second half of 2027. This project will contribute to the growth of the French naval industry and support skilled employment.
