The government should permanently retain control over the Russian railroad system, including the technological sphere, First Deputy Prime Minister Sergei Ivanov said at the opening ceremony of the Center for innovative development of Russian railroads, RBC reports. Ivanov pointed out that railroads had always been more than just a means of transportation in Russia.
Ivanov has expressed his belief in Russia's ability to manufacture modern technological equipment in amounts sufficient for the country's needs. As a result, the Center for innovative development could become a so-called platform for the promotion of scientific and technical progress in railroad transportation.
