Europe West Indies Lines introduces low sulphur fuel surcharge

Rotterdam-based Europe West Indies Lines will implement a low sulphur fuel surcharge ahead of new International Maritime Organization legalization that will force the shipping industry to use the more environmentally friendly but pricier fuel.   MARPOL 73/78 Annex VI is slated for Aug. 11 and EWL has responded to the anticipated extra cost by introducing a surcharge of 4 euros ($5) per TEU for all southbound, northbound and Inter European customers.
