New business for Kalmar

Within the past couple of months, Kalmar has won orders to supply its equipment to Maher Terminals’ Prince Rupert and Port of New York/New Jersey operations; Eurogate’s joint venture operations at the new Tangier Medgate Terminal in Morocco and MSC Gate Bremerhaven in Germany; Patrick Corp’s container terminals in Melbourne and Sydney, Australia; and the Yilport Container Terminal in Turkey.
Maher Terminals of Canada has opted to outfit its new container handling operations at Fairview Terminal in Prince Rupert, British Columbia, Canada with multiple types of Kalmar equipment. The New Jersey-based marine terminal operator has ordered in the last year a total of seventeen DRF450-60S5X reachstackers and 34 terminal tractors. All units will be commissioned by the terminal’s opening in October 2007.
At the Port of New York/New Jersey, Maher Terminals recently outfitted its entire straddle carrier fleet with Kalmar’s container position verification system, Smartpath®, and Fleetview, a system for monitoring and coordinating container handling equipment. The installation, which was finalised in May 2007, involved 183 straddle carriers. p>Kalmar also received an order for eleven E-One RTGs equipped with Smartrail® for the Tangier Medgate Terminal at the new Tangier Mediterranean Port. The equipment will be delivered by May 2008.
Kalmar received a further order from MSC Gate Bremerhaven, for ten ESC440W EDRIVE® straddle carriers with twinlift spreaders - an additional option deal associated with the previous EDRIVE® order from Bremerhaven earlier this year. Delivery of the ten new straddle carriers will be completed in March 2008.
Australia’s Patrick Corp placed a further order with Kalmar for fifteen 7th generation straddle carriers for its container terminals in Melbourne and Sydney. Due for delivery by the end of this year, Patrick’s latest order comprises ten three-high CSC350 units for its East Swanson Dock facility in Melbourne and five three-high EDRIVE® ESC350 units for Port Botany in Sydney.
Yilport Container Terminal has awarded Kalmar an order for 21 terminal tractors for its new container terminal in Izmit Bay, Turkey. The order comprises six TTX182i units (the first Kalmar i-model series terminal tractors equipped with CAN-BUS technology to enter the Turkish market), and fifteen PT122 units. Delivery of the machines will begin in October 2007.
Every fourth container or trailer transfer at terminals around the world is handled by a Kalmar machine.
