Net loss of Archangelsk Commercial Seaport down 8-fold in H1 07, y-o-y

In January-June 2007, net loss of Archangelsk Commercial Seaport decreased 8 times, year-on-year, to 3.014 million rubles, the company reports. The company’s sales grew to 292.227 million rubles against 226.200 million rubles in H1 2006. Gross profit grew 3.9 times to 34.433 million rubles. Pre-tax loss totaled 1.131 million rubles against 29.998 million rubles in H1 06.
Archangelsk Commercial Seaport is a multi-profile stevedoring company operating at the port of Archangelsk. It is specialized in transshipment of general cargo, cellulose, cardboard, containers, timber, metal, fertilizers, heavy equipment and dry bulk cargo. ACS’s facilities enable it to handle 4.5 million tonnes of cargo per year. Import cargo flows to the port of Archangelsk come mostly from Europe. Then cargo usually goes to Central Russia and Kazakhstan. Export cargo handled at the port comes mainly from Archangelsk region, Urals, Komi and Siberia to be shipped to Germany, Netherlands, North America and Canada.

Major shareholders of ASTP OJSC are Norilsk Nickel Company – 53.5% of shares, Federal Property Management Agency (Rosimushchestvo) -20%, North Shipping Company – 19.7%. The company’s authorized capital totals 125.318 thou rubles divided into 1.002.544 million ordinary shares with nominal value of 12.5 kopeks each.
