In the first half of 2007, shipping companies of Odessa region delivered 3.2 million tonnes of cargo (-1.2%, year-on-year), State Regional Administration reports according to RBC-Ukraine. Transportation to other countriesdecreased by 10.4%. The port of the region handled 8,000 vessels including 5,400 of vessels owned or chartered by foreigners, which is +10.6% and +12.3%, respectively.
In 2006, ship owners of Odessa region decreased transportation by 9.6% to 6.6 million tonnes. The highest volumes were transported by national carriers – Ukrainskoye Dunaiskoye Parakhodstvo OJSC (Izmail) and Ukrferry (Odessa).
