Shipbuilding plant “Zaliv” (Ukraine) starts reconstruction of slipway

Shipbuilding plant “Zaliv” (Ukraine, Kerch) has started reconstruction of its 400-meter slipway, Ukraine Industrial reports. For many years the plant used only one slipway while today’s increase in production and expansion of production program require maximal loading of all available facilities. Thus, the plant decided to start reconstruction of the slipway’s first line. The plant has recently signed two contracts with Dutch companies. Theprojects imply operation of the yard’s two slipways. The work on containerships for Damen is currently under way: two hulls are already at the slipway, while the work on contract with Bodewes will start after the reconstruction of the second slipway is finished in March 2008.


Shipbuilding plant “Zaliv” is one of the largest shipbuilding and ship repair plants of Ukraine. It   specializes in construction of tankers and container carriers as well as in repair of different vessels. As of today, the plant isbooked till autumn 2009. In 2008, Zaliv is to start complete construction of vessels.
