Norwegian government wants Norwegian pay on foreign ships

The Norwegian government will re-introduce the mandatory work permit for foreign seamen in Norway. In reality this means that Norwegian working conditions and salaries shall apply to vessels shipping goods between Norwegian ports.
“We want to end social dumping with foreign seamen in Norway., says Jan-Erik Støstad, at the Miinistry of Labour and Social inclusion to the news agency ANB.
According to International Transportworkers Federation (ITF) the new rules will apply to 1.300 seamen and 150 vessels, writes Tvedestrandsposten.
